Make your fairy tales dreams of being the king or queen of the castle a reality by spending the night and perhaps even more than one in a castle that dates back to before the time of paper-thin walls, oddly patterned carpets and generic art wall art that looks like it was made either by a 5 year old or a guest that enjoyed the mini bar a little too much!
Castles make for extremely popular wedding venues but there are surprisingly few that you can actually spend the night in, we did some digging to find some of the best castles to stay and play in:
Sherbrooke Castle, Glasgow
Located in the southside of Glasgow, this beautiful hotel seems delightfully pintsized from the outside but is surprisingly spacious on the inside with plenty of public spaces and generous rooms that are tastefully decorated in a traditional manner while providing comfort and modern convinced like ensuite bathrooms, not to mention a delicious breakfast in the morning. Located a stone’s throw from Drumbeck train station you will have easy access to the city centre making it perfect for people who don’t want to drive. Should you decide to say out into the wee small hour of the morning taking in the funky and fantastic Glasgow nightlife you will easily be able to hop a taxi back to the hotel for a small fee.
The Preston tower apartment at Fyvie Castle, Aberdeenshire
If the thought of exploring towers and turrets excites you then you will want to grab 15 of your closet friends for a stay at the Preston Tower apartment in Fyvie Castle. Spread over 4 floors this apartment spans two towers and even features a bathroom with a roll tup tub (in addition to 3 other shower rooms, no long waits for a shower in the morning here). A kitchen and dining room make this a self-catering option yet is within easy reach of public transit should you want to go out for a night. Discounted rates are also available for smaller groups looking to get away at the last minute.
Let’s be honest, renting a room or an apartment in a hotel would be wonderful but you know that what you truly want is to have an entire castle to explore! Forter castle sleeps 12 people in sheer luxury and is completely yours for the length of the booking. With a state of the art kitchen, you can prepare all your own meals but if you want to take it up a notch you can also arrange for bespoke catering options.
Which option will you choose?
